New Apprentice Intake Arrives at the Uniper Engineering Academy

We welcomed the new 2018 apprentice intake to the Uniper Engineering Academy last week!

After spending the bank holiday week being inducted; the apprentices started their first official training course today, learning hand skills. This four week course will provide them with the essential underpinning knowledge that they will need to proceed onto valves, pumps and the variety of other subject areas they'll be completing before Christmas.

2018 has been exciting because we have seen our intake grow this year; Uniper sites have continued to support apprentices but also many thanks to our long term customers who continue to see the value of our apprenticeship programme. They aren't the only ones though because they have been joined this year by a number of new customers from conventional generation, energy recovery and renewable wind industries. We've even taken on our first international cohort all the way from Bermuda!

This is an important time for apprenticeships due to the introduction of the apprenticeship levy and improvements that the government have overseen to apprenticeships as a whole. We're proud to be offering an apprenticeship that provides such great value to a variety of different industries and are looking forward to seeing how the next chapter unfolds.

For more information on the apprenticeships that we offer, have a look at our dedicated web page or get in touch with us.
