Back to the Floor for National Apprenticeship Week

Today, Mark Timmins (Lead Electrical Engineer, Ratcliffe Power Station) joined our second-year apprentices for a day training at the Engineering Academy.

Mark joined the PLC & SCADA course as part of a ‘back to the floor’ exercise for our National Apprenticeship Week activities at the Academy. The purpose of the exercise is to showcase the quality of training and the apprentices overall experience to those in senior positions!

Mark was particularly excited to compare his handwritten apprentice log notes from 30 years ago from his time as an apprentice to those used today! Speaking about his day ‘back on the floor’, Mark said “it’s been a really interesting day for me today; great to see the apprentices getting ‘stuck in’ and applying what they’ve learnt through training in these first class facilities. The practical training on the apprenticeship is vital to these apprentices as they start their careers!”

Mark went on to say that “The first two years of the apprenticeship are well organised and are a great investment! Having trained at the academy myself, I didn’t realise just how much they have to offer.”

Today’s experience has certainly made a positive impression on Mark, if you’re interested in finding out more about our apprenticeship options then please do contact us or visit our apprenticeships page.
