Welcoming our new intake of apprentices

This week we welcomed our 18 new apprentices to the Engineering Academy.

We held a number of online sessions to induct and on board our new apprentices. The Induction included a meet and greet with the Early Careers team, virtual ice breaker and group activities, an overview of their programme and some of the Uniper policies and an online IOSH course. We also spent some time talking about safeguarding, radicalisation and prevent.

As part of their induction the apprentices had a number of homework activities including writing a piece about themselves, detailing their interests and hobbies and working in groups on a project about the industry, which they presented back to the Early Careers team at the end of the week. We also managed to find time for a Friday afternoon quiz!

The apprentices have really embraced working digitally, have been incredibly engaged and taken the opportunity to ask lots of questions!  It’s been great to meet them all, albeit digitally and we’re looking forward to supporting their progression over the duration of the scheme, starting with their online college tuition next week! We also want to take the opportunity to say well done in completing your first week and good luck in your apprenticeship journey!
