Course Content

Further electrical knowledge will be gained through predominantly practical and also theoretical training in the following areas:

• Refresh overview of the foundation course
• Fuse characteristics
• Discrimination and diversity in electrical systems
• Circuit breaker types and characteristics
• Basic capacitance and inductance in electrical circuits and safety issues
• Motor types, construction, characteristics and operation
• Dead fault finding on our 3 phase 400 volt motor pumped system
• Star delta relationships and the need for reduced current starting, auto-transformer starters, resistance starters and soft-start starters
• Investigate electrical interlocking and proximity devices
• Wire a forward and reverse motor control panel, star delta motor starter panel from schematic diagrams
• An introduction into PLC interfacing and control systems
• Fully static and function test at the relevant stages
